THE ROAD WELL TRAVELLED

The Washington Nationals opened up their 10-game road trip on Friday night with a 9–5 win over the Miami Marlins…Michael A. Taylor (2-for-4, 2B, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R) and Matt Adams (1-for-5, HR, 2 RBI, R) each clubbed home runs, while Bryce Harper (2-for-5, 2 RBI) and Anthony Rendon (3-for-4, 2B, R) produced multi-hit efforts.

· It should be noted that Washington’s 15–8 (.652) record is the best road record in the National League and the fourth-best road mark in Major League Baseball…The Los Angeles Angels (16–6, .727), Houston Astros (18–7, .720) and the Boston Red Sox (19–9, .679) rank ahead of the Nationals.

DINGERS OF THE DAY

The Nationals enter play on Saturday with 64 home runs, the most in the National League ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers (63)…Bryce Harper (1st, 15) and Matt Adams (T4th, 12) rank in the top 10 in the National League…Only the Colorado Rockies have more than one player in the top 10.

· The Nationals have homered in five straight games, their second-longest streak of the season behind a seven-game stretch from May 1–7.

SPEAKING OF “BIG CITY”

At 2.71 plate appearances/team game, Matt Adams falls just short of qualifying to be among league leaders (3.1 PA/game), but if he did qualify, he would lead the National League in slugging percentage (.626) and would rank second in OPS (.995).
