The Washington Nationals recalled right-handed pitcher Wander Suero from Triple-A Syracuse and optioned right-handed pitcher Austin Voth to Syracuse on Monday.

Suero, 26, joins the Nationals for the first Major League assignment of his career. He appeared in four games out of Triple-A Syracuse’s bullpen. He did not allow an earned run in his last three outings (3.0 IP) while striking out two and holding opposing batters to a .100 average (1-for-10).

Suero, a native of Sabana Larga, Dominican Republic, was signed as a non-drafted free agent on Feb. 2, 2010. In 2017, he led Washington’s Minor League system with a career-high 20 saves between Double-A Harrisburg and Triple-A Syracuse. In 184 Minor League relief appearances, Suero is 36–17 with 30 saves and a 3.35 ERA.

Voth did not appear in a game during his first Major League stint of the season.
