The Nationals opened this three-city, nine-game road trip on Monday night with a 5-4 victory over the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field…The win was Washington’s 70th of the season, joining the Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers as the only 70-win teams in the Major Leagues…Reaching the 70-win mark in game No. 117, the 2016 Nationals are the fastest in club history to that total since the 2012 Nationals picked up win No. 70 in game No. 113.

  • At 70-47 (.598), the Nationals’ record is the second-best mark in Major League Baseball, trailing only the Chicago Cubs (73-43, .629).
  • WSH also ranks second in MLB with a +143 run differential, behind only the Cubs (+194).
  • As a team, the Nationals rank in the top five among National League clubs in home runs (2nd, 156), runs scored (4th, 556), and walks (4th, 405)…Washington’s 883 strikeouts, as a club, are the second-fewest in the National League.

With a walk in his first at-bat on Monday night, Nationals LF Jayson Werth extended his career-best on-base streak to 43 games, forging his way into Nationals history…Werth now joins 1B Ryan Zimmerman as co-owners of the longest on-base streaks in Nationals history (2005-present) as Zimmerman reached base in 43 consecutive games from 4/8-5/25/09.

  • Werth is now chasing Tim Raines (44) and Rusty Staub (46) for the longest on-base streak in franchise history (Nationals/Expos)…However, the streaks put together by both Staub and Raines spanned multiple seasons — Raines from 1985-86, Staub from 1969-70.
  • This is the longest on-base streak in MLB this season and the longest since CIN 1B Joey Votto reached base in 48 straight games from Aug. 11-Oct. 2, 2015.
  • During this stretch, Werth has collected 40 hits (13 2B, 6 HR) & 31 walks (.384 OBP)…Werth also clubbed his fourth home run in his last nine games on Monday night and is hitting .314 with a .714 slugging percentage in that stretch.

Nationals INF/OF Trea Turner stole his 11th and 12th bases of the season on Monday night, his 28th Major League game this season…Trea’s 12 stolen bases already rank fourth-most among all rookies, and all those ahead of him on the list have played in 46 games or more…Turner, who finished a double shy of the cycle on Saturday, led off Saturday night’s win over the Braves with his fifth triple of the season — tied for the most among MLB rookies…In his last five games, Turner is 10-for-24 (.416) with two doubles, one triple, one home run, two RBI, four stolen bases and eight runs scored.

  • Turner is hitting .333 (28-for-84) with five doubles, three triples, three homers, 11 RBI, three walks, nine stolen bases and 18 runs scored in his last 19 games (since July 24).
  • Dating to the All-Star break, Turner leads MLB lead in triples (5) & ranks third in SB (12).
  • Among players with at least 10 stolen bases this season, Turner is one of only four who hasn’t been caught more than once.

Nationals C Wilson Ramos has hit safely in nine of his last 10 and 23 of his last 28 games played, including multi-hit efforts in seven of his last 21.

  • Ramos extended his new career high for HR in a season with a solo shot on Monday night, tying the game at 4-4 in the sixth inning…Ramos’ 19 home runs are the seventh-most by a catcher in a single season in franchise history (Nationals/Expos) with only Gary Carter (who hit 20+ six times) ahead of him.
  • Ramos ranks fourth among Major League hitters (3rd in NL) in batting average (.331) and ninth in the National League in average with runners in scoring position (.347).
  • In addition to batting average, Ramos leads all MLB catchers in OBP (.379), SLG (.546) and RBI (66), and he is tied for first (with TEX’s Jonathan Lucroy) in home runs with 19.
  • According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Ramos is on pace to become the second player in the Modern Era (since 1900) to raise his batting average 100 points from one year to the next (min. 500 plate appearances in both seasons)…OF Darin Erstad is the only player to do so…He hit.355 in 2000 for the Angels after hitting .253 for Anaheim in 1999.

Nationals RF Bryce Harper went 3-for-3 with two doubles, two walks and an RBI on Monday, his fourth three-hit game of the season and the second time this season he’s reached base five times…Harper drove in the game-winning run on Monday, his 10th GW RBI this season.

  • Since returning to the lineup on Sunday after missing five games due to injury, Harper is 4-for-6 (.667) with three doubles, three walks, two RBI and two runs scored.
  • Harper is tied (with CIN’s Joey Votto) for the MLB lead in walks with 85.
