After enjoying three off days on their just-concluded eight-game homestand, the Nationals head west to Colorado to open a three-city, nine-game road trip and continue their stretch of 20 games in 20 days…They’ll start this trip Monday night in Denver for the first of three against COL and continue on to ATL (4G) before concluding in BAL (2G) to open the Beltway Series.

  • At 69-47 (.595), the Nationals’ nice record is good for the second-best mark in Major League Baseball…Washington trails only the Chicago Cubs (73-43, .629).
  • WSH also ranks second in MLB with a +142 run differential, behind only the Cubs (+194).
  • As a team, the Nationals rank in the top five among National League clubs in home runs (2nd, 154), runs scored (4th, 551), and walks (5th, 399)…Washington’s 875 strikeouts, as a club, are the second-fewest in the National League.

Nationals INF/OF Trea Turner posted his 12th multi-hit game of the season (out of 27 total games) on Sunday with a double and a single, continuing his torrid stretch…Turner, who finished a double shy of the cycle on Saturday night, led off Saturday night’s win over the Braves with his fifth triple of the season — tied for the most among MLB rookies…In his last four games, Turner is 9-for-19 (.474) with two doubles, one triple, one home run, two RBI, two stolen bases and seven runs scored.

  • According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last rookie to hit a leadoff triple and then homer in his next plate appearance was PIT Al Martin, against the Rockies on June 9, 1993.
  • Turner is hitting .342 (27-for-79) with five doubles, three triples, three homers, 11 RBI, three walks, seven stolen bases and 17 runs scored in his last 18 games (since July 24).
  • Dating to the All-Star break, Turner leads MLB lead in triples (5) & ranks T4th in SB (10).
  • Among players with at least 10 stolen bases this season, Turner is one of only four who hasn’t been caught more than once.

With a single in the sixth inning on Saturday, Nationals LF Jayson Werth has reached base safely in a career-high 42 straight games…It is the longest on-base streak in MLB this season…MIA OF Marcell Ozuna reached the previous high of 36 games from April 21- May 29.

  • Werth’s current run is the second-longest on-base streak in Nationals history (2005-present), now just one game behind 1B Ryan Zimmerman (43 games, 4/8-5/25, 2009).
  • During this stretch, Werth has collected 38 hits (13 2B, 5 HR) & 30 walks (.378 OBP).

Shining in the Nationals’ 9-1 victory over the Braves on Sunday was RHP Tanner Roark, who tossed 7.0 innings and allowed just one run on five hits and two walks while striking out three…Roark, who has started five of the Nationals’ eight shutouts this season, improved to 13-6 with a 2.81 ERA in the win — the 10th-lowest ERA in the Major Leagues.

  • Sunday’s outing was the 15th time (in 24 starts this season) that Roark has pitched at least 7.0 innings…Only teammate RHP Max Scherzer (16) and CWS LHP Chris Sale (16) have pitched at least 7.0 innings more often than Roark this season.
