WHISPERING SWEEP NOTHINGS
The Nationals secured their seventh sweep of the season, fourth at home, with a 4-2 win over the New York Mets Wednesday night…It was Washington’s first sweep over the Mets since August 12-14, 2014 at Citi Field and was just the first home sweep of the Mets since Sept. 28- 30, 2009…2B Daniel Murphy clubbed two home runs, while RHP Max Scherzer struck out 10 in 7.1 innings of two-hit, shutout ball en route to his ninth win of the season.
- The Nationals will continue this 10-game homestand on Thursday with the first of four games against the Cincinnati Reds…Following this four-game series, Washington will welcome the Brewers early next week…With 79 games in the rearview, the Nationals are enjoying their first homestand longer than seven games (10)…Washington plays 16 of its next 20 games at home.
- At 47-32 (.595), the Nationals possess the third-best record in the National League, behind the San Francisco Giants (49-31, .613) and the Chicago Cubs (51-26, .662).

With two home runs Wednesday night, 2B Daniel Murphy matched a career-high in home runs for a season with 14…The two-home run game was the third of his career, first of the season and his first since July 26, 2013 at Washington.
- Murphy has hit safely in five of his last six games, going 10-for-25 (.400) with four extra base hits (2B, 3B, 2 HR) and seven RBI.
