The latest round of NL All-Star balloting was released Wednesday…Here’s where a few of your favorite Nationals stand:
- C Wilson Ramos, who ranked third among NL catchers with 899,063 votes as of Wednesday, leads all Major League catchers and is third in MLB (second in the NL) in batting average (.341)…He also leads all MLB catchers in RBI (40), on-base percentage (.385), slugging percentage (.567), fewest strikeouts (30)…His 12 home runs lead National League catchers and are tied with Kansas City’s Salvador Perez for the most among MLB catchers…After hitting .229 in 2015, Ramos is the only player in MLB to have increased his average at least 100 points from last year to this year (min. 100 PA in 2016 / 500PA in 2015), per Elias.
- 2B Daniel Murphy has racked up 1,573,890 votes as of Wednesday and is gaining on current leader CHI 2B Ben Zobrist…Murphy leads Major League Baseball in batting average (.349) and paces the NL in hits (95) and multi-hit games (T1st, 30)…He also ranks among NL hitters in OPS (3rd, .970), slugging percentage (5th, .577) and on-base percentage (9th, .392)…Murphy leads NL second baseman in doubles (20), RBI (48) and slugging percentage (.577).
- If the voting ended today, RF Bryce Harper would be starting in the NL outfield for the third time in his career with 1,824,808 fan votes as of Wednesday, second among all NL outfielders…Harper, the 2015 National League MVP, ranks in the NL in walks (2nd, 58) and on-base percentage (8th, .397)…His 13 go-ahead RBI are tied for sixth in the NL…Harper clubbed his 15th home run of the season on Tuesday night.
