The Nationals returned from rehab and reinstated OF Ben Revere from the 15-day disabled
list today…Revere missed 27 games after suffering a right oblique strain on Opening Day in Atlanta…He appeared in five rehab games with Triple-A Syracuse…To make room on the 25-man roster, the Nationals optioned OF Matt den Dekker to Syracuse.
LF Jayson Werth recorded the 1,300th hit of his career via a two-run home run Thursday
night against the Chicago Cubs…He became the seventh player to reach the 1,300 hit mark
as a member of the Nationals, joining Dmitri Young (2007), Cristian Guzman (2009), Ronnie Belliard (2009), Adam Kennedy (2010), Ryan Zimmerman (2014) and Adam LaRoche (2014), per Stats, LLC.
- Coincidentally, Werth’s 1,000th hit was also a two-run homer, Aug. 10, 2013 vs. PHI
- Werth is hitting .310 (9-for-29) with one double, three homers, nine RBI, one walk and seven runs scored in his last eight games…He has hit safely in seven of those eight games.
- Werth ranks second on the club with six home runs and his 17 RBI are tied for second while his .453 slugging percentage is good for third.
