RUBBER MEETS THE ROAD
After falling, 7-6, in walk-off fashion Tuesday night to the Royals, the Nationals return to Kauffman Stadium this afternoon in the rubber match of this three-game set…Following the game, Washington will travel to Chicago to begin a four-game weekend series with the Cubs.

  • The Nationals’ current road trip took them from St. Louis (three-game sweep), across the state to Kansas City (1-1) and will finish with a four-game series in Chicago.
  • This is the first of two 10-game road trips for Washington in 2016…The Nationals will travel to San Diego (4 G), Los Angeles (3 G) and Milwaukee (3 G) from June 16-26.

BEST (NATIONALS) START EVER
At 18-8 (.692), the Nationals boast the third-best record in Major League Baseball (Chicago Cubs, 19-6, .760 and Chicago White Sox, 19-8, .704), and the are in the midst of the best start in Nationals history (2005-pres.) through 26 games.

  • The 18-8 record also matches the best start in Nationals/Expos history…The 1979 Expos also went 18-8…The 1932 Senators boast the best record for a D.C.-based team through the first 26 games at 19-7.
