The Washington Nationals recalled right-handed pitcher Taylor Jordan from Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday and placed right-handed pitcher Craig Stammen on the 15-day disabled list with right forearm stiffness.
Jordan, 26, joins the Nationals for the first time this season. The right-hander made one start for Triple-A Syracuse (April 10 at Scranton-Wilkes Barre), tossing six scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and a walk, and striking out five.
In 14 career Major League games spanning the 2013 and 2014 seasons, the sinker-baller is 1-6 with a 4.31 ERA.
A ninth-round selection in the 2009 MLB First-Year Player Draft, Jordan made his Major League debut in 2013.
Stammen, 31, is 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA in five games (4.0 IP) this season. Since transitioning exclusively to relief work in 2012, the versatile righty is 17-12 with a 2.89 ERA in 167 games (246.1 IP) for the Nationals.
