Washington Nationals left-hander Gio Gonzalez has earned a win at 22 different Major League ballparks, but is still looking to add Wrigley Field to the list. Additionally, the Nationals are 2-2 in games started by Cubs right-hander Jeff Samardzija and have hit a home run in each contest.

Of note:

  • The Nationals and Cubs play a rare scheduled “doubleheader” today and will have an even more rare day off on Sunday. The Nationals are 5-3-10 (sweeps-swept-splits) when playing twice in a single day, or 20-16 overall, since landing in DC in 2005. The Nationals’ last twin bill sweep came June 9, 2013 vs. the Minnesota Twins (W7-0, W5-4). The Nationals last suffered a doubleheader sweep on May 15, 2010 at the Colorado Rockies (L2-6, L3-4).
