What unfortunately is readily apparent with the team as is presently constituted and coached is that they do not play as a team. This is reflected in the consistently inconsistent play. Whether it is the constant errors, players like Gio Gonzales who are selfish and refuse to back up their team mates on the field or a coaching staff that refuses to call them out and take disciplinary action. These basic flaws and inconsistencies can only be corrected by a new on the field manager and head coach who will impose a strict regime from Spring Training on. Mike Rizzo’s selection of a new Field Manager may be the most critical selection he will make as General Manager of the Nationals.
