Statement from the Nationals

The Washington Nationals wish to announce that all fans who purchased tickets for Tuesday night’s postponed game with the Detroit Tigers will be guaranteed their same seats for Thursday’s scheduled 4:05 p.m. makeup game, or will retain the option to exchange their tickets – as they have in the past – for any remaining regular or value home game during the 2013 season, subject to availability. Due to increased attendance at Nationals Park, “rain check” ticket holders are encouraged to contact the Nationals ticket office by phone or online to better ensure seating for those games. The Nationals apologize for any inconvenience.

Tickets for Tuesday’s game may be exchanged at the Nationals Park Box Office for any Regular or Value game during the 2013 regular season. Exchanged tickets will be issued from available inventory in the closest pricing category of equal or lesser value to the original seats.* For more information on exchanging tickets purchased through or the Nationals telephone charge line, please call 888.632.NATS(6287).

On game days, the Nationals Park Box Office is open Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. until 30 minutes after the end of the game, and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 30 minutes after the end of the game. Box office hours on non-game days are Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

*Subject to availability. Available game dates subject to change.

Someone must have been listening to WTOP’s Core Values. Prosperity is one thing but greed is another.

Thanks for doing the right thing, even if it was only the result of public pressure and humiliation

Thanks Nationals! That really helps if you can’t go to the makeup game.

What about other games that may get rained out this season? This statement is specifically for the Tuesday night game. Does it apply going forward?

This will apply to all postponed games moving forward this season.

Good on you, but way to wait until you got called out for such a terrible policy. I’m still pissed about having to eat the service charges from last year’s NLCS tickets, but this policy would have set a new bar for horsecrap.

How does one go about getting tickets for a new game since I have one of those job things and can’t make it to the Thursday game?

You can exchange at the box office

well suck up than people, regardless, they are still going to play rather youre there or not. im a fan but i dont live in the city. i cant make it to game period. be glad you have an opportunity to go to a game. smh

suck it up*

is the game on or cancelled

Today’s game is on. Yesterday’s (Tuesday’s) game has been rescheduled for Thursday at 4:05 p.m.

Does this ticket exchange only apply to last night’s game or is it the policy going forward?

This will apply to all postponed games moving forward this season.

Great management listens and responds to their customers. Great that you did the right thing. Some of us drove up from Richmond last night and could not make it to tomorrows game. We now plan to come up to several games this season.
You almost lost us as customers.
Great job.

I was going to come to tonight’s game, but before hearing this announcement, I had decided it wasn’t worth it if tonight was postponed and i couldn’t attend the rescheduled game. Hence, I’m sitting on my couch.

Can I just show up Thursday if I have my ticket from Tuesday’s postponed game?

I’m from out of town. Is there a way to exchange a ticket for a future game without having to come to the box office?

Try giving the box office a call on a non-gameday, let them know your situation.

good job nats! I’m glad to see you did the right thing. Do you guys still have the student rate tickets? It’s going to be a great summer to watch them battle.

If I bought tickets on Stub Hub and have the tickets in hand, can I exchange at the box office too?

Yes, you can still exchange at the box office, based on availability.

Great! As a fan who buys from Nats and Stub Hub it is greatly appreciated!!!!

If you bought a single game ticket, the Nats will not allow you to exchange for a future game. I tried tonight and was told I could not exchange.

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience, but we ARE exchanging single-game tickets, subject to availability.

According to Ticket Services you are not. I tried. The guy told me because they were single game tickets AND bought from stubhub I could not exchange. I don’t get why you guys say one thing here and they tell you another there.

We updated our policy late yesterday. After speaking with the ticket office this morning, we were reassured that single game tickets, including those purchased on StubHub, are available to be exchanged

What about tickets bought on Stub Hub?

You can still exchange at the box office, based on availability.

When you say postponed, does this mean tickets for last night’s game too? We didn’t use our tickets last night because the game started at 8 p.m. — an hour late (on a school night).

A postponed game means a game that has been rescheduled for another date, not a game that starts late due to a rain delay, so no, Wednesday night’s game is not exchangeable, unless you are a season ticket holder.

Thanks for the helpful information. Do the 5/7 tickets purchased through Stub Hub and printed need to be exchanged at the Box Office before the game starts, or can they be exchanged at any time?

They should be exchangeable any time, but we encourage you to do so sooner rather than later, as seats may no longer be available for popular games as the season progresses.

I tried to exchange tickets for last night’s rained out game vs the Mets as I will be away for the make up game. I cannot find any link on the website to do this and was just on hold for over 40 minutes before I gave up. Please advise.

You must exchange tickets through the box office. If you are unable to get a representative on the phone, your best bet is to bring them with you the next time you are at the ballpark and exchange them then. Sorry for the inconvenience, but with consecutive postponements, there are a lot of exchanges to process.
