· In yesterday’s game, Mike Morse hit a 3-run pinch-hit homer in the fifth inning. It was his first career pinch-hit home run and first home run since August 15, 2005 against Kansas City.
· The Braves are still in the running for the NL Wild Card due to a hot streak late in the season. Atlanta has won 5 straight games, 6 of 7 and 13 of their last 15. They are now a season-high 14 games over .500 and have won 9 consecutive road contests.
· Nationals starting pitchers have allowed just one homer in the last 12 games (65.2 innings). The only blemish in that span was Matt Kemp’s first-inning three-run blast off J.D. Martin on Thursday in DC.

I met Ian Desmond three years ago when he was playing in the minors in Savannah, Ga. He is talented , smart and a classy guy with a lot of respect for the game.
I knew his kid would make it. Washington is lucky to have him.
