Desmond Makes Major League Debut
It will be the first time Nationals fan hear… batting seventh and playing shortstop #6 Ian Desmond. The much anticipated Major League debut for Desmond comes after he had the best Minor League seasons in his young career. The third round pick in the 2004 First-Year Player Draft hit a combined .330 with 24 doubles, three triples, seven homers, 30 RBI and 21 stolen bases in 97 games with Syracuse and Double-A Harrisburg. He is batted .354 (63-for-178) with 12 doubles, two triples, one homer, 14 RBI, 20 walks and eight stolen bases in 55 games since being promoted to Syracuse on July 16. In 42 contests with Harrisburg, he collected 52 hits, including 19 of the extra-base variety (12 doubles, one triple, six home runs).
