Tonight starters:

Detwiler, 23, was the 6th overall pick in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft. Cecil, 22, was the 38th overall pick.
He said it:
“I was trying to get something I could hit in the air on the first two pitches, and he kind of blew it by me. I don’t really have a two-strike swing, but I told myself, ‘More level swing, just try to put the ball in play,’” said Adam Dunn on hitting the 0-2 pitch down the right field line to drive in the game-winning run.
This and That:
RHP Jordan Zimmermann has yet to record a Major League hit (0-for-17) but his first career RBI was crucial. The game was tied 1-1 till Adam Dunn drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 11th. It was the Nats first extra-inning win of the season.
Adam Dunn has provided the game-winning RBI in the last three victories. Dunn is tied for third in the NL with eight GWRBI this season. He is just the second National (2005-present) to record three GWRBI in three consecutive games since Austin Kearns did it from September 2-4, 2006.
Nick Johnson was perfect last night, going 3-for-3 with a double and three walks. He became just the second National (2005-present) to reach base safely six times in a single game, the first to do so in the minimum six plate appearances.
